Ingredients

- 800 g tomatoes
- 600 g mozzarella (Italian cheese)
- 2 medium-sized onions
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1/8 liter olive oil
- 6 slices of wholemeal toast bread
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- some butter

Directions

First of all you have to grease a fire proof casserole with butter and cut the toast bread slices so they cover the whole bottom of the casserole. Afterwards wash the tomatoes, dry them and cut out the green stems. Then cut the tomatoes and the mozzarella in about 1/2 cm thick slices. Afterwards peel the onions and the cloves of garlic and chop them up into small cubes. Mix them together with the olive oil and also the pepper and the oregano. Pour some of this mixture on the bread slices. Afterwards you have to lay rows of overlapping tomato and mozzarella slices onto the bread and season the tomatoes with some salt. Then disperse the rest of the olive oil mixture over the whole casserole and bake it in an oven at 430°F (220°C) for about 30 minutes.
